Margaret R. (Birney) InmanWas born December 26, 1921 in Sayre, PA the daughter of the late James Timothy and Agnes (VanGaasbeck) Birney, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the age of 93. She was greeted there by her loving husband of 56 years, Robert; sons, Thomas and Kenneth; sisters, Genevieve (Donald) Rumsey and Rachel (Rev. Herman) Theetge; sister-in-laws, Kay McElwee, Toni Jones and Glenda Inman; brother-in-law, Ernest Inman. Margaret is survived by her beloved daughter, Kathleen Inman of Elmira, NY; grandson, Eric (Jennifer) Inman of Texas; great granddaughter, Jillian Inman of Texas; brother, James (Elizabeth) Birney of Chemung, NY; brother-in-laws, James (Carolyn) Inman of Virginia;Irwin "Mac" McElwee and Jack Jones both of Florida; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Margaret was employed by Sears and Roebuck for 25 years in the Children's Department. She graduated from Waverly High School and the Baptist Bible Seminary. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church and now the United Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School, was a Deaconess, a member of the American Baptist Women's and the Mission Belles. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY 14904 on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will follow the visitation at 4 PM. The Reverend James Crupi and Reverend David Daniels will officiate. Interment will take place in the Chemung Cemetery at the convenience of her family.
