Fahs, Marjorie B. age 92 of Pine City, passed away at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center on Tuesday, September 29th, 2015. She was born December 6th, 1922; the daughter of the late Cameron C. and May (Sykes) Benedict. She is survived by her children: Joseph (Besala) Fahs of Horseheads, NY, Nancy Bollen with fiancé (Thomas Groover) of Canton, PA, Gary Fahs with fiancé (Kathy Short) of Flower Mound, TX, Peter Fahs of Cayuta, NY; grandchildren: Marjorie, Joseph M., Brian, Bradley, Cameron, Amber, and Cassandra, and 8 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Marge is predeceased by her husband of 44 years: Joseph Harold Fahs and brother: Cameron Robert Benedict. There will be a private family service followed by a public celebration of Marge's life that will take place at the Park Church on a date to be announced at the end of the year. Marge earned her Master's Degree in Education from Elmira College and taught in the elementary classroom as a substitute teacher for more than two decades. She was a gifted bridge player, loved to travel, read several books each month, enjoyed gardening, and looked forward to solving the daily crossword puzzle. Continuously inquisitive, Marge thrived on conversations with others, especially when accompanied by a glass of dry white wine. Most of all she loved her family and especially the young grand/great grandchildren who absolutely adored and admired her. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marge's memory may be made to the Elmira Free Community Kitchen and Meals on Wheels. Many thanks to the residents at Park Terrace Apartments who contributed in supporting Marge's independent living through conversations, transportation, community watch, and acts of kindness.
