Mark A. Brown

Age 54, of Pine City, New York passed away unexpectedly August 19, 2009 while on vacation in Jackson Wyoming, Mark leaves behind a large extended family and many friends. Parents, Stuart R. Brown Sr. and stepmother, Barbara Brown of Horseheads, NY . He was predeceased by his mother, Janice M. Crandall Brown March of 1990. He is also survived by his loving daughter, Jessica L. Brown, her fiancé Chris Swartwood and grandson Dylan Swartwood all of Elmira, NY,wife Rhonda Brown, three stepsons, Shane Smithman (Kendall), Nathan Dixon of Jackson, Wyoming, and Kyle Dixon of Waverly, NY, brothers, Stuart R. Brown Jr. and his fiancé, Debbie Brown and Joel L. Brown of Elmira, NY, sisters and brothers in-law, Barbara A. Maines (Michael) of Pine City, NY, Carolyn E. Becraft (Steven) of Wellsburg, NY and Lisa M. Wieland (Chris) of Breesport, NY. Mark also leaves behind several aunts, uncles cousins, nieces and nephews.Mark was a New York State Correction Officer for 25 years and was looking forward to retirement. He worked in inmate records at Southport Correctional Facility and took great pride in his job, always concerned for his fellow co-workers. He was a loving husband, father, son and brother. Family was always dear to his heart. Mark was a humble, kind and patient man. He touched the hearts of everyone he knew. He enjoyed Gods creation by hiking, boating, bike riding, traveling and fishing. Some of the best stories came from the fishing trips with his best friend and brother Stu. He was also a devoted Yankee fan. Mark faced life by always putting his best foot forward no matter what the circumstances. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. A beautiful light was dimmed on August 19, 2009. Thanks for the memories Mark; you will forever be in our hearts.The family will receive friends at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY on Tuesday August 25, 2009 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM with Funeral and Committal Service there Wednesday at 1:00 PM, Reverend Scott Snyder will officiate. Interment will be held a the convenience of the family. Those wishing may make memorials to the Dylan Lee Swartwood Education Fund, C/O Jessica L.
