Mary Pauline â??Peggy�? Allen

Age 79, passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 3, 2004 at St. Joseph?s Hospital Elmira, NY. She was born May 29, 1924 in Millerton, PA, the daughter of the late Fordyce and Doris (Sullivan) Baker. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years, Delton Louis Allen on August 12, 2002. She is survived by her beloved children, Tom Allen of Lawrenceville, PA; David Allen of Melissa, TX; Kathleen (Sean) Joyce of Chemung, NY; James (Michelle) Allen of Lawrenceville, PA; grandchildren, Jeff and Joshua Allen, sons of Tom; Darcy and Thomas Joyce, children of Kathleen and Sean; sisters, Virginia Worthen of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Marjorie (Joseph) Watkins of Millerton, PA; Rita (Guy) Shedden also of Millerton, PA; along with several nieces and nephews. ?Peggy? as she was affectionately known, was a private person, but was always conscious of the needs of others and would often open her home to them. Her family was very important to her and she loved them all dearly. She also loved to read and would constantly educate herself through reading. She also took a great love and interest in the natural world and frequently learned the names of birds, trees and geography. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Wednesday, January 7, 2004 from 6 to 8 PM. Her Funeral Service will be held there on Thursday at 11:00 AM. Deacon George Welch will officiate.
