Mary E. Barnett

Age 89Of 300 S. Main St. Elmira, NY went to be with her Lord on Wednesday September 10, 2008, due to Legionnaires Disease, surrounded by her family at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was born December 26, 1918 in Elmira, NY , the daughter of the late Floyd A. and Florence L. (Elmore) Smith.Predeceased by her husband, Rev. Tom Barnett, February 2, 1972, brothers, Gardiner E. Smith, and Thaddeus E. Smith, also sister, Florence L. Conklin. Survived by step daughters; Roberta Mellick, of Oakville, WA, and Ruth Olney of South Bend, WA, nieces, Susan (Dr. Stephen) Stanton-Reid, of Honeoye Falls, NY, Barbara (Donald) Hulslander, of Horseheads, NY, and Sally (Donald) Watson, of Jacksonville, FL.Four step grandchildren, five great step grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. Mary was a Graduate of Elmira Free Academy and Arnot Ogden Nursing School.It was Marys request that there be no calling hours and a Private Graveside Service be held at the convenience of the family at Woodlawn Cemetery. Those wishing may make memorials to the charity of ones choice.
