Mary Jane Church

April 6, 1925 — March 17, 2007

Was born April 6, 1925 in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Demont) Lisi, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at the Bath VA Nursing Home peacefully at the age of 81. Her loving husband, Robert K. Church and beloved son, David M. Church predeceased her. Mr. & Mrs. Anthony Lisi, Mr. & Mrs. Howard Stample and nephew, Tony Sample, also preceded her in death. She is survived by her sons, Robert G. Church of Houston, TX; Patrick (Lisa) of Franklin, NC; Fern Hildreth of Ocala, FL; much-loved grandchildren, Leonard Church of Ocala, FL; Candice Church of Elmira, NY; Brandon, Derek and Natasha Church all of Franklin, NC; Brittni, Khristie and Samantha Church all of Hornlake, MS; sister, Isabelle (Willis) Larrabee Jr. of Elmira, NY; brothers, Vincent (Beverly) Lisi of Pine City, NY; Anthony (Dianna) Lisi of Chillicothe, OH; Lawrence (Jean) Lisi of Windsor Locks, CT; along with several nieces and nephews. Mary graduated of Southside High School and was honorably discharged from the US Army as Sergeant, proudly serving her country with the Nursing Corp. as a medical technician. She was a faithful communicant of St. Marys Church and was very devoted to the Divine Mercies at St. Casmirs Church. All of the bus drivers with the Chemung County Transit System knew Mary very well as she traveled throughout the area. She enjoyed free Mondays the most. Mary will always be remembered for her contagious spirit of happiness that she possessed and gave to others. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A Prayer Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Marys Church 224 Franklin Street Elmira, NY. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn National Cemetery where the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Mary Military Honors after the committal prayers.
