Mary Jo Greatsinger

March 8, 1935 — December 27, 2012

Age 77, passed awayunexpectedly on Thursday, December 27, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband Bill "Willie" Greatsinger and her parents Edward and Margaret Bement. Mary Jo is survived by her daughter Susan (Bruce) Bennett of Stafford Va., sons; Edward (Peg) of Elmira and Jeffrey (Jennifer) of Horseheads; grandchildren Daniel (Sabrina) Bennett of Ruther Glen, Va., Julie(David) Loving of Fredericksburg, Va., Megan and Amanda Greatsinger of Horseheads, stepgrandchildren; Joshua Woodruff of Plainville, Ct, Sara (Peter) Marshall of Canton, MA; greatgrandchildren Caitlynn and Savannah Bennett, Mathew and Noah Loving, Brendan, Ava and Sean Marshall. Brothers and sisters-in-law William (Louise) Bement of Lansing, NY, John (Donna) Bement of Rotunda West Fl, Thomas (Betty) Bement of Painted Post NY; along with many nieces and nephews; severalvery close friends,andlast but certainly not least, her constant feline companion, "Patches". Mary Jo loved ceramics, puzzles, reading, travelling in New England and the Adirondacks. She was very passionate about her family .She worked at Marine Midland, AT & T, Shepherd's Market, Sigsbees Market, Oppenheim's Market, Fay's Drugs, Weis Market and Tolbert's Egg Farm. She was a member of Pine City and Webbs Mills Vol Fire Dept Ladies Auxillaries. Services to be held at Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Ave, Elmira/Southport on Monday December 31, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with Funeral and Committal Service there Monday at 7:00 PM, Pastor Betty Bement will officiate. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers those wishing may make memorials to the Chemung County SPCA, or the Chemung Volunteer Fire Department, or the Greater Valley EMS Ambulance Service envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
