Mary Rita Hall

February 12, 1947 — September 30, 2007

Age 60, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends after a short and courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 12, 1947 in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late Herbert and Twila (Hart) Cook. Her brother, Herbert Jim Cook and sister, Nancy Gates predeceased her. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 26, Burdette Bill Hall; daughter and son-in-law, Jolene and Jamie Galpin; brothers, Albert (Dottie) Cook of Auburn, NY; Larry Cook of Elmira, NY; sisters, Shirley (Ralph) Thomas of Warwick, RI; Sharon (Donnie) Ellis of Wellsburg, NY; Brenda (Norman) Brinck of Chesapeake, VA; 5 grandchildren, Anthony Galpin, Tim and Thomas Fruitt; Declan and Galvin Arnold; 2 step-children, Brian (Mary) Arnold of Horseheads, NY; Tammie (Dan) Fruitt of Pine City, NY; mother-in-law, Shirley Hall of pine City, NY; brother and sister-in-laws, Ted (Stephanie) Hall, Lynn (Loretta) Hall Chriss (John) Mills all of Florida; Pat (Art) Congdon, Kitty (Jack) Connelly, Bonnie (Dale) Balmer all of Pine City, NY; 2 close friends, Janie Stephens and Sandy Parker of Elmira, NY; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and extended family. Mary was an avid Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees fan. She participated in numerous Euchre tournaments and loved her trips to the casino. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was a loving and caring person to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by all. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Thursday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A Celebration of Marys life will follow the visitation at 1 PM. Her brother-in-law, Major Ralph Thomas will officiate. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Artic League, Salvation Army or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
