Passed peacefully on Wednesday, June 22,2011 at St. Joseph's Hospital after a courageous battle with an extended illness. Maxine was born November 14, 1952 in Elmira, NY to Walter and Carol Smith. Maxine was a computer operator at Flickingers for many years before becoming a CPA through CCC. She then workedat Carnevale, Neils Whitney and Nash which later become E.F.P. Rotenberg. Maxine was a strong, devoted, and nurturing mother; always putting others before herself. Maxine is survived by her parents, Carol (Jessop) and Walter E. Smith, by her sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis (Smith) and Todd Chichester, by her two children, Katrina and Ted DeWitt, by a niece and nephews, Christopher, Jennifer and Alexander Chichester, by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and by a multitude of friends and co-workers. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, June 25,2011 from 1 PM to 3 PM at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue., Elmira, NY. A memorial service will immediately follow at 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Cancer Treatment Center, 1 St. Joseph's Plaza, Elmira, NY 14904 or to the Falck Cancer Center, 600 Roe Avenue, Elmira, NY 14905.
