Merial L. Allen

Allen, Merial L. age 92 of Millerton, PA, passed away Sunday, December 7th, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital Elmira. Merial was the daughter of the late Merle and Helen (Gilbert) Baker. She was born in Starkey, NY July 19th, 1922. She was predeceased by her husband, Stewart in 1995. Surviving are her children: Arthur (Alice) Bacon of Millerton, Jean (Dennis) Smith of Millerton, John (Sharon) Bacon of Millerton, Stewart (Karen) Allen of Baytown, TX, David (Gwen) Allen of LaMarque, TX, Roy (Veronica) Allen of Ocala, FL, Melinda (Jerry) Walker of Myrtle Beach, SC; 20 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; sisters: Peg Kowalski of Horseheads, NY, Donna (Bruce) Sprague of Horseheads, NY, brothers: Albert (Jean) Baker of Horseheads, Merle Jr. (Bonnie) Baker of Odessa, Kenny (Diana) Baker of Horseheads, along with several nieces and nephews; and daughter in law: Anne Bacon of Elmira.In addition to her parents, Merial is predeceased by her husband Stewart, son: Richard Bacon, sisters: Florence Tenney, and Gail Burdick. Merial was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Northern Tioga and a member of the Grottoettes. She was an avid bowler, and loved jigsaw puzzles. Family and friends are invited to gather Thursday, December 11th, 2014 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM. Funeral and committal services will follow at 6:00PM. The Reverend Larry Burke will officiate. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in the Jacob Miller Cemetery, Millerton. Those wishing may make memorials in Merial’s name to the charity of one’s choice.
