Mildred B. Clark

September 4, 1917 — November 20, 2003

Age 86, was rescued by her Lord in the midst of a valiant battle with cancer at her home, Thursday, the 20th of November 2003. Mildred and Chester J. Clark, her devoted husband of 48 years, kept a lovely home 1495 Carpenter Road Pine City, NY. The home of ?Chet? and ?Milly? has been the gathering place for all of her family and friends for the past 45 years. She is also survived by her beloved children, Robert S. (Dixie) Van Houten of Pine City, NY; William N. (Nancy) Van Houten and Richard L. Clark of Elmira, NY; LuAnn Clark of Granite Bay, CA; grandchildren, Robert, Terri, William, Shawn Van Houten; Chyllene Van Houten Agan, Brad Clark; along with 11 great grandchildren; sister, Eleanor J. Haight of Pine City, NY; nieces, Carol Jean Bitner, Sandy (Rocco) Picarazzi and Kenneth Haight. ?Milly? was predeceased by her parents, Floyd and Mabel (Stage)Barney. She was a member of the Pine City Baptist Church, the Mary Martha Guild and past member of the Pine City Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. ?Milly? was a long time employee of the Remington Rand, was also employed by Westinghouse and was involved in various other services in the community. Her retirement years were golden. Summers on the backyard patio, surrounded by her cherished Jackson Perkins roses. The chill of winter sent her packing to West Palm Beach, FL where friends and family spent every Wednesday night going out to dinner, followed by a game of contract rummy and desert! Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Sunday, November 23, 2003 from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 PM. Funeral Services will be held there on Monday, November 24th at 11:00 AM. Her pastor and friend the Reverend Horrace Stoddard will officiate. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, NY. A ?Candle of Remembrance? may be left for the family at www.olthof.com.
