Mildred A. Saltus

November 2, 1921 — April 25, 2013

Mildred Russell Kirton Saltus, born November 2, 1921, to the late Lewis and Minnie (Carl) Russell passed away April 25, 2013. She was a graduate of Sodus High School, Bradshaw Business School, and attended many classes at night school and Elmira College. She worked for many years in the Elmira area as a bookkeeper and credit manager for Firestone, Marksons clothing store, Sheehans, and Bond Paper Co. She married Gordon Kirton September 1, 1950. This marriage ended with his death March 14, 1995. She then married Earl R Saltus on November 1, 1997 who predeceased her on July 12, 2008. She loved her family above all and enjoyed gardening, baking, knitting, crocheting, oil painting, making crafts and jewelry. Her sister Leonora Huff and brother Carl Russell have predeceased her. Surviving her is her daughter, Kristine Grosso, with whom she resided with in Syracuse NY. Sons Roger Kirton of Elmira NY, and James Kirton (Nancy) of Bowling Green, KY. Her grandchildren Jessica Milford, Jeanine Pautz, Michael (Jenny) and William Warrick, Joanna and Jaclyn Grosso, Ashley, Amanda, and Brett Kirton. Her sister Beatrice Roughgarden of NJ and her brother Lewis (Betty) Russell of PA and NC, and Sister in-law Lucille Sayles alongwith many great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira/Southport on Sunday April 28, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. With Funeral Services there MondayApril 29, 2013 at 11:00 AM.
