Norma Lewis Cady

Age 95, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2010 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Norma was born April 9, 1915 in Elmira, NY, daughter of the late Ernest and Lena (Combs) Lewis. On March 11, 1936 Norma married Lewis W. Cady. After 34 years or marriage, Lewis preceded her in death on December 21, 1970. She is also predeceased by her sisters, Esther Andrus, Wilma Lewis (infant) and brother, Charles Lewis. Norma is survived by her daughters, Vera Cady, Pine City, NY; Barbara Mitchley, Pine City, NY; son, Lewis Cady, Jr., Waverly, NY; and special daughter, Madeleine Sweeney, Seaford, DE; grandchildren, Christine and William Cady, Tammy Mitchley, Wendy Erickson and Kathleen Stone; five great grandsons and several nieces and nephews. Norma was a homemaker and enjoyed raising cats, growing flowers, reading and playing cards and board games with family and friends. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff on the fourth floor of the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Family and friends are invited to call Thursday, November 4, 2010 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY. In keeping with Norma's wishes, there will be no funeral service. Interment will follow in the Rosstown Cemetery. A 'Candle of Remembrance' may be left for her family in obituaries atwww.olthof.com.
