Orlando Tavani Past Commander of American Legion Post #154 Age 89 of Elmira, NY passed away on Wednesday February 25, 2009 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Susan Tavani, daughter, Linda (Jeffrey) Hough, his favorite sister in-law, Elvira Cerio, favorite nephews, John (Linda) Cerio, and Gary Cerio also many other nieces and nephews, two special friends, Bill Faucett, & Tony Corsi, and his many acquaintances at Edward Flannery Apartments and The Falls Home.Orlando is a former employee of the Sperry Rand Company with 26 years of service and a retired employee of Eastman Kodak Company of Rochester, NY. He was a United States Army Veteran of WW II having served in the European Theatre; he was involved in four major battles, one being the Battle of the Bulge. Member of the VFW and The Catholic Wars Veterans. Orlando was a loving husband, father, and a generous man who liked people and helped many.It was Orlando's request that there be no calling hour. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday February 27, 2009 at 2:00 PM in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery, Elmira, NY with Military Honors Accorded after the graveside prayers. Those wishing to may make memorials to the charity of one's choice in Orlando's name.
