Otis S. Robbins Was born October 6, 1928 in Mainesburg, PA, the son of the late Otis F. and Francis (Smith) Robbins, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Guthrie Corning Hospital at the age of 87. In addition to his parents, Otis was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Mark J. Chaborek. Otis is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 66 years: Doris J. (Knapp) Robbins; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Karen Robbins of Pine City, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy (Chaborek) and Larry Woodward of Horseheads, NY; sisters: Marjorie Miller of Knoxville, TN and Grace Loomis of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren: Daniel (Stacy) Robbins, David (Lejla) Robbins, Jessica McInnis, James Nichols (fiancée, Mallory Stanton), Michael Chaborek, Larry Woodward and Matthew Woodward; great grandchildren: Alexa, Wyatt, Jace (due in January 2017), Presley, Cameron and Thomas; along with several nieces and nephews. Otis and Doris were high school sweethearts, meeting when they were 15 years old and together till this day. Otis was a wonderful family man. Summers were spent at their summer home on Waneta Lake, where many wonderful memories took place. Otis was an avid hunter and belonged to the Lakewood Sportsman Club for many years. He worked on the family farm for several years, along with being a machinist for 35 years at the former American LaFrance. He then worked at Kennedy Valve for 5 years, then retired from the Hilliard Corporation after 3 years, ending his career as a machinist. He greatly enjoyed deer hunting, snowmobiling, traveling to Vermont and Myrtle Beach, but spending time with his family brought him the greatest enjoyment. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira/Southport, NY on Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Funeral services celebrating Otis's life will follow the visitation at 6 PM. Deacon Joe Erway will officiate. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery Corning, NY at the convenience of his family.
