LauperCommunity VolunteerDevoted member and volunteer of the Southport Community for many years, passed way Tuesday, May 14th, 2008 very unexpectedly at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA at the age of 78. Pat was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Soleski Cobb. She was born in Elmira, NY February 3rd, 1930. Her husbands John J. Considine and Clarence (Pete) Lauper predeceased her. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY 14904, Monday, May 19th, 2008 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral and committal services will be held at the conclusion of the calling hours at 7:00 PM. The Reverend Richard Farrell will officiate. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira. Surviving Pat are her loving children: son, Ed (Roberta) Considine of Pine City, daughter, Mary (Henry) Swilley of TX, son, Joseph (Barbara) Considine of TX, step-daughter, Bonnie Thorpe of NC, step-son, Jeff Lauper of Wellsburg, NY, 10 beloved grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Also surviving her is her sister Maureen (Francis) Morris of Elmira, brothers, Richard Cobb of Horseheads, and Michael (Ardeth) Cobb of Elmira along with several nieces and nephews that she was very proud of.Pat Lauper was best known for her unwavering loyalty to her community with her bright smile and very approachable attitude on life. Everyone seemed to become accustomed to Pat always helping out where ever and when ever needed. Some of the organizations that she volunteered her time to were Pine City Military Family Service Club, Samaritan Center, Brand Park Beautification Committee, Red Hat Society, Meals on Wheels, Grottoettes, she was the Recording Secretary of the Pine City Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and Ashland Senior Citizen Center. In honor of Pats volunteerism, she was awarded the Mildred Parfitt Award of which she was very proud.She was a longtime communicant of St. Marys Church of the Southside. She graduated from the St. Josephs School of Nursing and enjoyed a nursing career that spanned over 40 years in the Chemung County area.In lieu of flowers, the family requested memorial donations to the Pine City Military Family Service Club, % Gretchen Ham 247 Kinner Hill Road Pine City, NY 14871. This group sends various care packages to our military forces that are stationed overseas.NOTICE: will meet at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc on Monday, May 19, at 6:45 PM to pay our final respects to our departed St. Joseph Hospital Alumni Association member Patricia A. Lauper.
