Age 59 of Pine City, NY passed away to his Lord on Sunday, March 7th, 2004 at his home on Hendy Creek Road, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Paul was the son of the late William E. and Katharine Ridall Vincent, born in Buffalo, NY March 15th, 1944. He is survived by his loving wife and friend of 34 yrs Helen Clark Vincent; son Mark A. Vincent of Jacksonville, NC; daughter Julie B. Vincent of Fredericksburg, VA; beautiful granddaughter Rachel Magnusen; sister Martha E. (Douglas) Henry of Horseheads, NY; sister-in-law Patricia A. Vincent of Woodbridge, VA; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.Paul was predeceased by his parents William and Katharine and brother Benjamin D. Vincent Sr. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY on Wednesday, March 10th, 2004 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A funeral service to celebrate Paul?s life will be held on Thursday, March 11th, 2004 in the First Baptist Church, 121 W. Church Street, Elmira, NY at 4:30 pm. The Reverend Dennis Christiansen will officiate. Graveside services on Friday will be held privately in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Paul was a graduate of the Southside High School class of 1962. He attended Eastern Kentucky University obtaining his Bachelors degree in Education in 1966, and in 1975 concluded his education with a Masters degree in education from Elmira College. Paul was a devoted teacher of the Fifth grade in the Elmira City School district for 34 years. He taught in the Hopkins Street, Parley Coburn, Beecher, and Hendy Avenue Schools. He was devoted to children?s sports programs contributing over 30 years as coach for the area Little Leagues, Southside High School JV Football, and Elmira Free Academy JV Football and Varsity Baseball.Paul also served on the Elmira School board assisting children and youth of the area from June 2000 to June 2003. He was a lifelong and devoted member of the First Baptist Church, Superintendent of Sunday School, Member of the board of Trustees twice, church moderator, and served on numerous boards and committees to help his church family. Paul found great peace in golfing or just spending his time with his loving spouse Helen and family.In lieu of flowers, please make memorials in Paul?s memory to the Faulk Cancer Center, c/o the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, 600 Roe Avenue, 14905 or Southern Tier Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. 11751 E.
