Pauline Hazel Avery

Age 87, of Varney Hill Road, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 29, 2004 peacefully at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was born March 29, 1917 in Gillett, PA the daughter of the late James and Edna (Queal) Congdon. On this date, May 31st 1934 in Pine City, NY the Reverend Burrows married Pauline H. Congdon and LaMar W. ?Bert? Avery. They have celebrated 70 wonderful years of life and love together. Pauline is survived by her loving husband, ?Bert?; beloved children, Llewellyn (Hannelore) Avery of Cayuta, NY; Charlene (Ronald) Griffin of Cayuta, NY; Daryl (Patricia) Avery of Ithaca, NY; Darla Shroyer of Millport, NY; Jocelyn Almon of Cayuta, NY; sister, Ona Lou Patterson of Gillett, PA; along with 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Her daughters, Janyce Avery and Cheryl Avery; son, Larry Avery; 2 sisters and 1 brother predeceased Pauline. She was a member of the Sullivanville United Methodist Church. Her green thumb enabled her to be an excellent gardener and expert flower grower. She also enjoyed sewing and loved her ?rocks?. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Wednesday, June 2, 2004 from 4 to 7 PM. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held there at the conclusion of calling hours. (7:00 PM) The Reverend Mari Rockwell will officiate. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of her family in the Gillett Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Sullivanville United Methodist Church 69 Old Sullivanville Road Horseheads, NY 14845 in her memory.
