PAULINE FELDHAUS PARMERAge 75 of Bakercrest Home For The Elderly and Pine City, NY, she peacefully left this earth on February 27, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Elmira, after a long battle with Alzheimer's.Pauline was predeceased by her husband Roy V. Parmer, she leaves behind a daughter Parnilla, and her partner Mark Reep; a grandson Troy Jordan Carpenter; a granddaughter, Mariah Grace and her husband Joshua Cain. Pauline is also survived by her siblings Louis, Florence, Kenneth and James; an aunt Midge Setters; and several cousins, nieces and nephews, all of Kentucky; and very dear friends Ira and Julia Heyward and family of Pine City, Alex and Eleanor Boesen and family of Pine City and Pauline's Bakercrest family.In early life, Pauline was an expert marksman and a semi-pro softball player. She was an art lover and collector who preserved the work and memory of her husband's uncle, local artist J. Lars Hoftrup, and other artist of his day.Pauline was a friend and defender of nature who planted many of the trees that grace her Pine City neighborhood today. She believed in personal liberty, community, and equality for all people. She encouraged children, her own and others, to excel, to learn their individual strengths, and to be unafraid to pursue their passions.A favorite song by Carl Davis speaks of Pauline's love of her native Kentucky:Kentucky, you are the dearest land outside of heaven to me.Kentucky, your laurel and you Redbud trees.When I die, I want to rest upon a graceful mountain so highFor this is where God will look for me.We will miss her.It was Pauline's request that there be no calling hours. The family will have a gathering of family and friends to take place at a later time. Pauline's ashes will be returned to Eastbend, Kentucky for burial in the Eastbend Methodist Cemetery.
