Peter L. Miller

Age 56 of Elmira, NY passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday May 6, 2014 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center.Peter was member of the Southport Volunteer Fire Department, and retired from the Chemung County Sheriff’s Department. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid Sportsman. In his younger years he played softball and most recently was a softball coach for the Kings Tavern. He is survived by his father, Matthew Miller; siblings, David (Darlene) Miller, Kathryn A. Service, Elaine E. Hintz, Teresa (Robert) Rich, Melissa (Donald) Shiflett, and Jill (David) Bailey; also many nieces and nephews, very close friend Paul Santo and numerous other close friends.Peter was predeceased by his mother, Charlotte A. MillerFamily and Friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira on Saturday May 10, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with Funeral and Committal Service there at 7:00 PM. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.In lieu of flowers those wishing, may make memorials to the Southport Volunteer Fire Department in Peter’s name.The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Dialysis Unit of Arnot Ogden Medical Center, for their kindness and care, during Peter’s treatment. “Our family has lost the heart of our laughter, may you rest peacefully”.
