Philip Patrick â??Phil�? Gaitings

Age 45, passed away unexpectedly Monday, August 30, 2004 at his home. He was born March 30, 1959 in Elmira, NY, the son of Philip P. and Carol (McCormick) Gaitings, Sr. ?Phil? as he was affectionately known, was preceded in death by his father and namesake in 1983. He is survived by his loving mother, Carol of Elmira Heights, NY; beloved wife, Dawn Gaitings of Gillett, PA; sons, Nathan, Dylan and Jacob Gaitings, also of Gillett, PA; siblings, Tim Gaitings of Horseheads, NY; Linda Cardamone and Andrew Rothkopf of Princetown, NY; Kim and Eric Stanley of Wellsburg, NY; Jamie and Michael Truman of Wilmington, NC; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many close friends. ?Phil? was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country from 1976 to 1980. He was quit the outdoorsman and enjoyed trapping. He dearly loved his family and friends and will be deeply missed by all. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Thursday, September 2, 2004 from 4 to 8 PM. A Funeral Service celebrating ?Phil?s? life and honoring his memory will be held there on Friday at 10:00 AM. The Reverend Rob Wuethrich, pastor of the Bentley Creek Wesleyan Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery in Ridgebury Township, PA. The Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord ?Phil? full Military Honors following the committal service at the cemetery.
