Age 30, of Dalrymple Avenue, Pine City, died September 22, 2005.Philip was born November 5th, 1974 in Elmira, the son of Philip and Carolyn Genung Rafferty of Pine City. Philip was a 1994 Graduate of Southside High School, where he was honored to be a member of the Concert Choir. He was also the recipient of the Elmira Rotary Phoenix Award. He attended Corning Community College and was an avid gardener and loyal Yankee fan.He was a NASCAR enthusiast, and closely followed the Bodine Brothers and Tony Stewart. He liked country music, and enjoyed family vacations, especially to NASCAR races. He was also a member of the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his Grandma?s, Crystal Rafferty and Doris Genung. In addition to his parents, Philip is survived by his sister, Kathleen Rafferty Oplinger; Grandpa?s, Philip W. Rafferty and Leo Genung; niece, Kristen Oplinger; uncle, Leo ?Jim? Genung; cousins, Christine (Nick) Andretta, Becky Genung, Justin Sherwood, and Tara Genung; Scooter the cat; caregiver, Sharon Martinez Sheppard, and best friend, Lonnie Kennedy.The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Americare for their services during the last eleven years.Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY on Sunday, September 25th, 2005, from 2 to 5 PM. Funeral and committal services will be held at the conclusion of the calling hours at 5 PM. Private burial services will be held in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, NY, at a time convenient for the family.
