On November 21, 2021, Phyllis M. Dann passed away at home in Pine City, New York after a second battle with cancer shortly after celebrating her 75th birthday. She was a fighter. She is survived by her husband, Bruce M. Dann, also of Pine City, New York and her sister, Marcia Klokus, of Corning, New York. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rita and Joseph Gongol of Canisteo, New York. Phyllis was born on November 19, 1946 in Salamanca, New York. After attending Kent State University, she went on to graduate from Corning Community College. She had a long career as a respiratory therapist, beginning at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell, and then spending many years at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was deeply devoted to her career and truly enjoyed caring for the many patients she met along the way. Phyllis married Bruce on August 2, 1980. The loving couple were best friends and were married for 41 years. They particularly enjoyed fly fishing in the rivers and streams of New York and Pennsylvania, and spending time with family and their many friends in the area. Phyllis also enjoyed watching Syracuse University basketball, and was a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan. Phyllis’ wish was that there would be no calling hours due to the pandemic. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, those who wish to remember her in a special way make gifts in her memory to Meals on Wheels of Chemung County, 409 William St., Elmira, NY 14901; or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
