Age 89 of Pine City died on January 13, 2014. Born August 20, 1924 to Antonio and Carolina Masia in Saludecio, Italy. Predeceased by parents and sister Stella Galbani of Italy. Survived by loving wife Mafalda Masia of 64 years; children, Rita (Robert) Brown of Elmira, Anthony (Elizabeth) Masia of Rochester, Carlo (Teri) Masia of Pine City, and Caroline Masia of Elmira; grandchildren, Christian (Theresa) Brown of Syracuse, Andrew Brown of Rochester, Jonathan Brown of Elmira; Dr. Nicholas Masia of Buffalo, and Luca Masia of Elmira; great grandchildren, Allison and Jacob Brown of Syracuse; brother, Tino (Piera) Masia of Italy; sister, Lina (Piero) Augustini of Italy; and many nieces and nephews in Italy; also loving relatives, Dr. Andrew (Marie) Colucci, Peter (Maxine) Masia, Patricia Masia Bruner, Linda Masia Smith, Patricia Zinn Stephens and Marilyn Zinn. At 27 years of age he left his beloved Italy to start a new life with his young family in his newly beloved America. He was employed at Kennedy Valve for 36 years. Before and after retiring he enjoyed working alongside his dear cousin Bob Masia at Masia's Restaurant. After retirement he continued his love for cooking and companionship at Mount Savior Monastery. He had a gift for making things grow as evident in his gardens, orchards, and vineyard. He enjoyed sharing all this and his wine making with relatives, friends and neighbors. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church on the Southside. He was also devoted to Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at St. Casimir's Church. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on January 16, 2014 at 10:00AM at St. Mary's Church 224 Franklin Street, Elmira, NY. Graveside committal prayers will be shared immediately following at the St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery. Special thanks to the sixth floor care givers at the Chemung County Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Church Southside, St. Jude's Hospital or Covenant House NYC. Pierino's guestbook may be signed in obituaries at www.olthof.com
