Was born August 8, 1934 in Elmira, the son of the late Howard and Mary (Chesonis) Dunlap passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 19, 2011 with his family at his side. In January of 1966, Raymond married Marie Feathers. Prior to her death May 6, 2008 they celebrated 42 wonderful years of life together. Ray is survived by his beloved children, son, Michael R. (Colleen) Dunlap of Elmira, NY; daughter, Dawn Dunlap also of Elmira, NY; adored grandsons, Ryan Dunlap and Kelvin Waiksnis; brother, James (Helen) Dunlap of Wayne, NY; along with several nieces and nephews. Raymond was a Veteran of the US Army proudly serving his country during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of various American Legion's for 51 years, most recently belonging to the American Legion Clarence Oliver Post # 154 in Elmira Heights, NY. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 229 with 52 years. He was a Past Grand Knight and belonged to the 4th Degree. Mr. Dunlap retired from Sears and Roebuck after 40 years of dedicated service. He was a faithful communicant of St. Mary's Church. At his request there will be no prior calling hours. Private interment will take place at the convenience of his family in St. peter & Paul's Cemetery where Ray will be laid to rest with his beloved Marie. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Chemung County SPCA Animal Shelter Route # 352 Elmira, NY 14903 in his memory.
