Wheeler, Rexford D. Of Millerton, PA, passed away unexpectedly returning home from Florida, Tuesday, April 4, 2017.Rex was born in Millerton to the late Norman and Josephine (Benson) Wheeler. In addition to his parents, Rex was also preceded in death by his mother- and father-in-law, Pete and Esther Eichorn; brother, Roger; sisters-in-law, Mary and June Wheeler, Patricia Kennison; brother-in-law, Bruce Eichorn; grandson, Adam Roy; granddaughter, Harper Simpson; as well as two nephews, Bill Wheeler and Norm Phillips. Rex is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Jane Wheeler; brother, Lewis; sister, Beverly (Arland) Phillips; brother-in-law, Gene (Nancy) Eichorn; sons, Alan (Rhonda), Brian (Cheryl); daughter, Sharon (Dale) Roy; grandchildren, Amie, Joshua, Matthew, Andrea and Justine; several great grandchildren and extended families. He was a 50+ year member of the Bricklayers Union Local #23, Jackson Summit Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge #373 of Tioga, PA. Calling hours for family and friends will be at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue in Elmira/Southport on Monday, April 10th from 5:00PM to 8:00PM. Funeral services will follow there at 8:00PM. Lay Pastor John P. Knapp will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Rex's honor to: the American Lung Association, 155 Washington Avenue, Suite 210, Albany, NY 12210; the Jackson Summit Baptist Church, Route 328, Millerton, PA, 16936; or a charity of your choice.
