Richard W. Folmer, 87, of Horseheads, New York, passed away surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, April 28, 2016.Richard (also affectionately known as “Billy,” “Rich,” or “Dick”) was predeceased by his parents, William and Emma Folmer; and sisters, Marjorie (Stan) Burnham, Sylvia (Ben) Burnham, and Shirley (Jay) Smith. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Mildred J. Clark Folmer; children, William A. Folmer and Rebecca A. (James) Kowulich; grandchildren, Joseph and Michael Kowulich; lifelong friend, Lewis Taylor; and several nieces and nephews. Richard had many friends and many interests of which he enjoyed talking about.He especially liked to talk about cars, and he loved gardening, baking, history, and animals.He was a charter member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church and served there for 25 years.He served 12 years as a deacon and 4 years as a trustee.He retired from Sears after 28 years of dedicated service.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church of Horseheads, New York, or to the North Presbyterian Church Food Pantry, 921 College Ave, Elmira, NY14901.
