Richard Eugene Gryska

Was born August 3, 1928 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Leon and Pauline (Laskoski) Gryska passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 4, 2007 at Elcor Health Services at the age of 79. His brother, Edward and nephew, Gary also predeceased him. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Marjorie H. (Williams) Gryska; son, Richard II with Carolyn; daughter, Lynne; granddaughter, Stephanie, nephew, Edward (Sue); along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard attended Elmira Schools and graduated from Cornell University. He proudly served in the US Army from 19501952. He was a dedicated salesman for several years and retired from Chemung County Waste Water in 1995. Richard was inducted into the Chemung County Sports Hall of Fame, was a member of the Sphinx Head at Cornell University and was the President of the Chemung County Retirees Club in Elmira Heights, NY. At his request there will be no prior visitation. The Reverend Jeremiah Moynihan will conduct private Graveside Services in the Woodlawn National Cemetery at a time convenient for his family. The Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will also accord Mr. Gryska military honors at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Bath VA Medical Center Voluntary Services 76 Veterans Ave. Bath, NY 14810 in Richards name.
