Richard E. Phenes

Was born December 31, 1948 in Corning, NY the son of the late Carl "Reed" and Elizabeth (Horton) Phenes. He passed away very unexpectedly at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center on Saturday, August 22, 2009 and immediately saw the face of God. His stepfather, Ray VanDusen and brother-in-law, Alan Hill predeceased him. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, "Gracie"; daughters, Nori (Rick) Herrick of Albany, GA; Jennifer (Jarrod) Powers of Corning, NY; step-daughters, Breanna McLaughlin and John Rogers of Rochester, NY; Paige McLaughlin of Abingdon, MD; grandchildren, Matthew Phenes, Ryan Sutton; Natalie and Sean Powers; brothers, Robert (Ginny) Phenes of Newark, NY; Gordon (Beverly) Phenes of New Bern, NC; sisters, Carol (Chris) Shroyer of Coopers Plains, NY; Marcia Hill of North Port, FL; along with sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, his Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church family, many close friends, co-workers and several nieces and nephews. "Eddie" was currently a dedicated 35-year employee with Dresser Rand in Painted Post, NY where he was an accountant and most recently with the Human Resource department. He was the Charter President of the Painted Post Lyons Club and was also a member of the National Guard. "Eddie" was very involved with the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church, was extremely active with the Food Cupboard ministry, and was the church bus driver winning the self-nominated Ralph Kramden Bus Driver Award. He enjoyed his life and lived it to the fullest! His family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church Pine City, NY from 4:30 to 5:30 PM. A Memorial Service honoring his life will follow at 5:30 PM. His Pastor's, Reverend Bill Vallet and Reverend Mark Erway will celebrate "Eddie's" services. The family will provide their own flowers. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church Food Cupboard c/o Darlene Bachman 1238 Pennsylvania Ave. Pine City, NY 14871. A 'Candle of Remembrance' may be left for his family in obituaries atwww.olthof.com"Eddie's" favorite quote: "Love God! Love People! Serve the World!"
