Richard H. Riker, Jr., a native of Elmira, NY and resident of Horseheads, NY passed away on Sunday June 8, 2025. He was 72 years old.

Born to the late Richard and Alois (Palmer) Riker, Sr., Richard was a man of few words. He served as a volunteer firefighter for much of his life, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an animal lover, and a dedicated family man.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Jeff Riker, his sister Evadne Riker, and his mother-in-law Gloria Garihan.

He is survived by: his beloved wife of 50 years - Canda (Steinhauer) Riker; his children - Richard Riker, III, Penny Roman, Tammy (Jeremy) Hoover, and Jessica Riker; his grandchildren - Justin (Jessica) Riker, Katelynn Butler, Anthony (Ally Barr) Roman, Andrew Roman, Aiden Roman, Alexander Roman, and Paxton Hoover; his great-grandchildren - Raelynn and Peyton Stansfield; his siblings - Georgiana "Georgie" Cowles, Mary Riker, Joella Riker, Joel (Pam) Riker, and Hank (Tracey) Riker; his sister-in-law Karen Riker; many nieces and nephews; and his precious dogs - Dakota, Harley, and Harper.

A celebration of his life will be held at Harris Hill on August 9, 2025 from 11:00 Am until 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elmira Heights Fire Company, 215 Elmwood Ave, Elmira, NY 14903, or to Heartland Haven Therapy Farm, 520 Mallory Hill Road, Erin, NY 14838.
