Richard "Dick" Sandore

Richard (Dick) Sandore, 88, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Elcor Nursing in Horseheads. Dick was born in Elmira, NY on June 14, 1924, to Joseph and Margaret Milliken Sandore. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Jean Nolan Sandore, in 2001, and sister, Ellen Carroll. Survived by five sons, Michael (Michalene) Sandore of Syracuse, Thomas (Patricia) Sandore, Mark Sandore (Mary Ann Wilk) and David Sandore (Carol Doland) all of Elmira, and Daniel (Paige) Sandore of Windermere, FL; grandchildren, Michael Sandore of Chicago, IL; Jacquelyn Sandore of Elmira; Kevin Sandore of Huntersville, NC; Audrey Sandore of Syracuse, Cortney and Taylor Sandore of Charlottesville, VA; and Adam Sandore of Boston, MA; brother, Joseph (Doris) Sandore of Syracuse; sister, Patricia Mower, of Rochester; several nieces and nephews. Dick was a WWII combat veteran having served in Normandy, France, Belgium and Germany. He was employed for many years as an Asst. Treasurer at Marine Midland Bank and later as an agent for the NYS Lottery. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Southside Church, was a member of the Fur, Fin and Feather Club and Elmira BPO Elks. Arrangements are being made by Olthof Funeral Home. It was Dick's wishes thatthere be no calling hours. There will be a Mass of Christian burial on Friday October 12, 2012 at 10:00 AM in St. Mary's Church, 224 Franklin Street, Elmira. Followed by graveside prayers at St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery where the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Mr. Sandore military honors.
