Age 90, of Elmira, NY passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2010 in Rochester, NY. Richard was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Sophie (Rozengota) Stamp. Survived by daughter, Maryanna (Peter) Bartell, granddaughter, Nicole (Mark) Pierson; grandson, Aaron (Jennifer) Bartell, brother-in-law, Stanley Rozengota, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of WWII, serving in the Battle of the Bulge and was a P.O.W. Richard retired from the Elmira Correctional Facility "The Hill" as well as from the Army Reserve with 20 years of service.He was the Parishioner of Holy Redeemer Church and amember of the Mark Twain Golf Club. Richard worked at Eldridge Park for over 20 years. The family will receive friends at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira/Southport, NY on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with funeral service there at 1:00 pm Deacon George Welch officiating, followed by graveside service at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery, Elmira, NY. Those wishing may make memorials to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, 945 County Road 64, Elmira, NY 14903 A "Candle of Remembrance" may be left for the family in Obituaries atwww.olthof.com.
