Richard H Vangorden

Passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Corning Hospital at the age of 73. He was born April 12, 1940 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Harry and Blanche (Reep) VanGorden. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Jan (Heib) VanGorden; beloved children: Michael & Jennifer VanGorden of Horseheads, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Caroline & Robert Arbogast of Binghamton, NY; adored grandchildren, Breanna & Gavin VanGorden; Emma & Hunter Arbogast; sister and brother-in-law, Joan & Robert Hershey of Lancaster, PA. Richard was a Veteran of the US Navy proudly serving his country from 1959 - 1965. He graduated from Lock Haven State College, retired from as a respiratory therapist from Corning Hospital, and then retired from Sears. Richard was a past member of the Big Flats Fire Department, the Horseheads Elks Club, and the Big Flats American Legion. He was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed playing ball, bowling and golf. Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of his family and will he be laid to rest in the Putnam Cemetery in Lawrenceville, PA.
