Woolever, Richard C. age 76 of Erin, NY passed away peacefully on Friday January 12, 2018 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was born on December 28, 1941 to the late Clayton Irving Woolever and Hilda Arnold Woolever. Rick is survived by his loving and devoted family: wife, Beverly Keturi of 54 years, children; Ginger Woolever (Charles Weinstein) of Elmira, NY, Greg Woolever (Barbara) of Owego, NY, and Jason Woolever of Sunnyvale, CA, siblings; Sheila McCallum (Roger) of Breesport, NY and James Woolever of Tampa, FL, grandchildren; Taylor Woolever-Frost, Colby Woolever-Frost, Audrey Woolever, and Kaleb Woolever, nieces and nephews; Chelsea McCallum, Cameron McCallum, Tami Woolever Kamp, and James Woolever, Jr. Rick worked for over 32 years (from 1967-1999) as a Chemung County Deputy Sheriff and as the Erin Town Justice for 16 years (2001-2016). In addition, he held the following Erin Town offices from 1976 to 1999: Zoning Officer, Town Councilman, Fire Commissioner, Town Supervisor, Budget Officer, and he was sworn in as the newly-elected Town Supervisor two weeks ago. Rick worked part-time as a funeral director for the family business, Arnold Funeral Home, which was started by his grandfather, Walter Arnold, and then run by his mother, Hilda. Richard assisted his father, Clayton, with the Arnold Ambulance Service, one of the first rural Ambulance crews in Chemung County. He loved being outside, whether he was cutting wood, boating around his pond, gardening, or just sitting outside watching the birds eat from his many feeders while he relaxed on the deck of the house he built with his own hands. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 18th, 2018 from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY.
