Rita M.

Was born April 30, 1922 in Germania, PA, the daughter of the late Albert and Agnes (Hartman) Sykora, peacefully went home to be with her Lord on Monday, October 7, 2013 surrounded by her loving and caring family. She was predeceased by her husband Jack in 1986; grandson, Adam in 1993; son-in-law, Larry Weinstein; 6 sisters and 2 brothers. She is survived by her loving daughters, Sharon A. New (Jack Dowdle) of Elmira, NY; Debby (Brian) Thomas of Horseheads, NY; Terry M. Weinstein of Naples, FL; Kelly (James) Hoyles of Elmira, NY; beloved grandchildren, Shawn M. Thomas of Rochester, NY; Tracy K. Backman of Horseheads, NY; Courtney C. (Sapientia) Thomas of Horseheads, NY; Korey R. Thomas of Fishers, IN; Lauren N. Weinstein of Wilmington, NC; Jacklyn V. Weinstein of Naples, Fl; Holly M. Weinstein of Naples, FL; Daniel M. Hoyles of Elmira, NY; Albert J. Hoyles of Elmira, NY; great granddaughter, Noelle M. Thomas of Fishers, IN; along with several nieces and nephews. For numerous years, Rita was a cashier at the Westside Super Duper. She was a faithful communicant of St. Peter and Paul's Church. An avid gardener, she also enjoyed and loved flowers of all kinds. She was the most loving and wonderful mother and best grandmother that anyone could ever have, and will be truly missed by all. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 in St. Peter & Paul's Church 556 St. Joseph's Boulevard Elmira, NY 14901 at 10:00 AM. The Reverend Richard T. Farrell will celebrate Rita's Mass. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to St. Peter and Paul's Community Center in her memory.
