Age 64, of East Commercial Street East Rochester, NY passed away on Friday, May 14, 2004 at the Rochester General Hospital after a brief illness. He was born July 30, 1939 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Frederick A. and Teresa E. (Skebey) Searles. Robert is survived by his sister, Mary T. Farr (Bob Trumbull) of Horseheads, NY; brother, Fred (Marilyn) Searles of Endwell, NY; nieces, Ann T. Farr of Horseheads, NY; Jean Marie Gorton of Hinsdale, NH; nephews, David (Bridget) Searles of Horseheads, NY; Scott (Liz) Searles of Vestal, NY; Mark Searles of Endwell, NY; along with several aunts, uncles cousins and many friends. Very dear and close friends affectionately known as ?Rocky?s Girls?, Kate, Marion, Fran, Camilla, Mary, Ann Marie, Terry, Jan and Shirley also survive him. He previously owned and operated Rocky?s Chocolate Chip Cookies bakery in Rochester, NY and was employed by Nalge Nunc International in Rochester at the time of his death. Robert was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the USS Coral Sea, CVA ? 43, Association. He graduated from Southside High School in Elmira and attended Elmira College and Monroe Community College. Robert was a Communicant of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Rochester. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Tuesday, May 18, 2004 from 4 to 7 PM. A Prayer Service will be held there on Wednesday at 10:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary?s Church 224 Franklin Street Elmira, NY at 11:00 AM. The Reverend Richard Farrell will celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul?s Cemetery where the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Mr. Searles full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to a charity of one?s choice. Rocky?s, family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the many doctors and nurses at Rochester General Hospital who worked so long and hard in an attempt to conquer his illness and a special thanks to Dr. Charles Ippolito who spent many hours leading the effort and advising the family throughout Rocky?s illness. His willingness to pursue all areas of diagnostic testing and consultation to their ultimate conclusion was sincerely appreciated.
