Age 76, of Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY passed away Monday, August 4, 2003 at St. Joseph?s Hospital Elmira. Bob as he was affectionately known, is survived by the love of his life of 53 years, Joyce M. (Prymusik) Wood; daughters, Bonnie (David) Maliszesky of Rochester, NY; Barbara (David) Jenkins of Pine City, NY; Deborah (Joseph) O?Brien and Cynthia Wood both of Elmira, NY; sons, Kenneth (Bonnie) Wood of Horseheads, NY; Joseph (Karen) Wood of North Carolina; David (Judy) Wood of Hamburg, NY; sister, Doris (William) Quinn of Pine City, NY; sisters-in-law, Margaret (Edward) Kowalski of Horseheads, NY; Alberta (Tom) Shaw of Florida; Betty Wood of Millport, NY; Norma Cummiskey of Horseheads, NY; uncle ?Jimmy? Wood of Elmira, NY; step-brother, Paul (Dolores) Rhode of Elmira, NY; 21 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 2 step-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Cleo (Waters) Rhode; brothers, Rusty, Louis, Kenny, Eddie and Leslie Wood; granddaughter, Sue Ann.Bob was a Veteran of the US Army, and proudly served his country during WW II. He retired from Thatcher Glass after 19 years of dedicated service. He was a communicant of St. Mary?s Church, member of the American Legion Bentley Trumble Post # 442 Horseheads, NY and was the Vice President of the Resident?s Council at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Bob was an avid bowler, little league coach, played city league ball and loved his bingo. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Thursday, August 7, 2003 from 5 to 8 PM. Funeral Services will be held there on Friday at 10:00 AM. The Reverend Patrick Connor will officiate. The Chemung Veterans Honors Squad will accord Mr. Wood full Military Honors at the funeral home following services.
