DePue, Robert L. passed away Tuesday, January 1st, 2008 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. He was born January 5th, 1925 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Frank and Bessie DePue. He is survived by his wife Kathryn DePue, Children: Cheryl (Jim) Parsons, Roberta (Ken) Krawchuk, Edward DePue, Step children: Vincent Leonard, Virginia Knapp, Donald Leonard, Ruth (Mark) Toda, David (Christina) Homrighouse, sisters Jeanette Williams, Eunice Quigley, Brother Donald DePue, Nephew John (Susan) DePue, grandchildren Jim, Beth Parsons, Ridge, Robert DePue, Melanie, Christina, Carissa Krawchuk, James Knapp, David, Megan, Brian, Rachel Toda, Ryan Gowe, 4 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Robert is predeceased by his sons Stewart DePue (1965), Ivan DePue (1993), brothers Frank, John, Raymond DePue, sisters Betty Austin and Irene DePue. He was an active member of the VFW Post #6083 of Elmira, American Legion Post # 154 of the Elmira Heights, NY, Sampson WWII Veterans, Desron 52 Survivors. He enlisted in the United States NAVY in February of 1944. He served on the destroyer USS Tingey(DD-539) in the Pacific during WWII. He worked for Spaulding Bakery and delivered milk with a horse drawn wagon for Houck Dairy. He was also employed at Westinghouse Electric, American Bridge Works and Seneca Army Depot. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY 14904 Friday, January 4th, 2008 11:00AM to 1:00PM. Graveside services will follow in the Laural Hill Cemetery, Odessa, NY at 2:00PM with full military honors accorded in his honor.
