Marks Jr., Robert J. "Bob",69, of Pine City, NY, passed away unexpectedly at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center on Wednesday, September 21, 2016.Bob was born in Elmira on June 22, 1947 to the late Robert Sr. and Helen (Harchison) Marks. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Janet (Phillips) Marks; daughters, Robin (Jeremy) Oakes and Karen (Mike) Pinzone; grandchildren, Jacob and Ryan Oakes, Massimo and Mateo Pinzone; siblings, Paul (June) Marks, Mary (Jason) Madison, and Barb Latshaw; sister in law, Elinor (Harold) Saunders; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. In addition to his beloved family, Bob will be greatly missed by his dog, Mickey Mantle Marks.Bob graduated from Thomas A. Edison High School and served overseas as a Specialist 5 in the US Army during the Vietnam War.He worked for the US Postal Service for 31 years.A lifelong fan of the NY Yankees and NY Giants, he also enjoyed golfing and bowling for many years. Bob was a member of the VFW Post 6083.Bob and Janet would have celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on September 26th. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave in Elmira/Southport on Monday, September 26th from 3:00PM to 6:00PM. Funeral services will follow there at 6:00PM.Lay Pastor John P. Knapp will officiate. Graveside services will take place in Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Tuesday, September 27th at 10:00AM.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bob's name to the Elmira Animal Shelter, 842 Linden Pl, Elmira, NY 14901 or to the charity of one's choice.
