Age 73, of Pleasant Street, Elmira, NY passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, October 24, 2003 at the VA Medical Center in Syracuse, NY. He was born January 15, 1930 in Elmira, NY, the son of the late Harry and Sarah (Ross) {Dennis} Wilcox. Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Frances Wolfe; brother, Richard Wilcox; son, Robert E. Wilcox Jr. in 1997. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, June (Hotchkiss) Wilcox; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Robert Osborne; brother, Lawrence (Joanne) Wilcox; sisters, Maureen (Francis) Weaver; Shirley Mitchell; grandchildren, Angela (Robert) Court, Suzanne (Michael) Olson, and Bridget Wilcox, along with 3 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Robert was a retired Chief Petty Officer of the US Coast Guard with over 22 years of service. (1947 ? 1969) He also retired from Elmira Floral after several years of dedicated service. ?Bob? was currently Commander of the Staff Sgt. Jack Swan Chapter # 13 of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of the American Legion Bentley Post # 443. He volunteered many hours of service and was very generous to many charities and organizations. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Wednesday, October 29, 2003 from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held there at the conclusion of calling hours. (8:00 PM) The Reverend Gary Chorpenning will officiate. Committal services will be held Thursday, October 30, 2003 at 1:00 PM in the Woodlawn National Cemetery, 1825 Davis Street, Elmira, NY.
