Ronald Lee â??Ron�? Schoonover

Age 62, of Decker Ave. Elmira, NY passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at the Bath VA Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born May 29, 1943 in Penn Yan, NY the son of the late Kenneth E. and Ruth E. (Gulvin) Schoonover. He is survived by his loving sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Joseph Pike of Warner Robins, GA; nephews, Joseph C. (Julie) Pike of Roswell, GA; Kenneth T. Pike of Warner Robins, GA; great nephew, Ryan Pike of Roswell, GA; uncles, Robert (Eleanor) Schoonover of Penn Yan, NY; William T. (Sylvia) Schoonover of McFarland, CA; great uncle, Elsworth (Marie) Schoonover of Dundee, NY; canine companion, ?Heidi?; along with several cousins and many close friends. Ronald was a Veteran of the US Army, proudly serving in Vietnam. He was in the Saigon Intelligence Command as a code de-coder. He was a member of the Clarence R. Oliver American Legion Post # 154, Elmira Heights, NY and the VFW Rex Field Post # 901, Elmira, NY. Ronald was also an Army and Navy Reservist and was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Association. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Thursday, July 28, 2005 from 5 to 7 PM. Funeral services celebrating Ronald?s life will follow the visitation. Chaplin Bill Kaiser will officiate. Interment will take place privately in the Bath National Cemetery Bath, NY at the convenience of the family.In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to Southern Tier Hospice 11751 East Corning Road Corning, NY 14830 or to a charity of one?s choice.
