Ronald E. Gilbert

Ronald E. Gilbert, 72, of Elmira, NY, previously of Millerton, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family after a strong and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Ron was predeceased by his parents, Aubrey and Pauline Gilbert. Ron is survived by his grandchildren, Alex and Brandon Gilbert, Charly, Ryann and Kamryn Slusser; children, Chris Gilbert, Steve (Kathy) Gilbert and Kim (Dave) Slusser; wife, Sandra Collum Gilbert; and companion, Rick Horton. Ron was a graduate of Williamson High School, a veteran of the US ARMY, and served on the Northern Tioga School Board for many years. For 22 years, Ron owned and operated Gilbert’s Flowers and Gifts. Ron was also a kitchen and bath designer at Corning Building Co. and most recently a realtor with Realty USA. He enjoyed gardening and travel, was an avid Jackals Hockey fan, and was well known throughout the community. He was a loving father and grandfather and he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 5 PM to 7 PM with a memorial service to follow at 7 PM at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue Elmira.
