Age 77, of Pine City, NY passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He is the son of the late Harry and Edith (Miller) Kintz. Ron is survived by his wife of 51 years, Laverne (Bercher) Kintz; sons, Ronald (Judith) Kintz, Robert (Barbara) Kintz, James (Lynne) Kintz; daughters, Bonny (Daniel) Huston, Barbara (Michael) Ginalski, Teresa Kintz;15 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 26 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 3 brothers and 1 sister.Ronald graduated from Southside High School in 1948 and served in the US Marine Corp Reserves. He then served as an air traffic controller in the US Air Force during the Korean conflict.Ronald retired as Assistant Tower Chief in 1980 after more than 25 years of service.He worked part-time as aparamedic and then purchased Erway Ambulance Service in 1973, serving as president until his death.Ronald was a Little League Coach, Cub Scout Leader, and Volunteer Fireman in Webb Mills.He also served as president of the Elmira School Board and Board member from 1969-1979; BOCES school board for 32 years from 1973-2005; one of the founding fathers of Empire Nine EMS program which was later re-organized as STREMS; 2002 was awarded a lifetime achievement award for over 50 years of service to EMS community.Ron was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and adoring great grandfather.Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira on Thursday, February 22, 2007 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and again on Friday from 1 to 3 PM and 5 to 7 PM.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at 10:00 AM.Reverend Lynell AlJoe-Thurman will officiate.Interment Woodlawn Cemetery where the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Mr. Kintz full Military Honors.A Candle of Remembrance may be left for the family in Obituaries at www.olthof.com
