Ronald J. Passmore

Age 84 of Baty Street Elmira, NY passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2004 at the VA Medical Center in Bath, NY. He was born March 23, 1919 in Elmira, NY the son of the late John and Lucy (Loomis) Passmore. His sister, Isabell Judson and brother Burdett Passmore predeceased him. Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Irene (Zahorian) Passmore; sister-in-laws, Veronica (Reed) Gernert, Martha Dunbar, Julia (Raymond) Jones and Barbara (Zahorian) Brown all of Elmira, NY; special lives that were touched by both Ronald and Irene: Donna, Jeff, Stacy (Brett) and Jason Congram; Robert Frawley Family; Todd and Stacy Sherwood; and preceded by Dee Field. Ronald was a Veteran of the US Air Force and proudly served his country from 1942 to 1945. He was decorated with the following medals: Air Medal with 6 Bronze Stars, Distinguished Unit Badge, Purple Heart and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He retired from the US Postal Service as a letter carrier after many years of dedicated service. Mr. Passmore was a member of the First United Church of Christ and the B.P.O.E. # 62 Elmira Elks Club. At his request there will be no prior calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Thursday, February 26, 2004 at 3:00 PM at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY. The Reverend Anne L. Mowery will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to a charity of one?s choice. A ?Candle of Remembrance? may be left for the family at www.olthof.com.
