Was born November 11, 1936 in Big Flats, NY, the son of the late Raymond and Hazel (Knapp) Mullen, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the Highland Hospital Rochester, NY after an extended illness at the age of 77. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Bonnie (Bishop, Howe) Mullen; beloved step-children: Mindy (Howe) and Steve Hudson of Horseheads, NY, and their children, Michael and Caitlin Connor and their son, Liam of Elmira Heights, NY; Justin Connor of Elmira, NY; Melissa (Hudson) Mattison of Pine Valley, NY with her children, Penny, Justin and Jennifer; Chrissy and Michael Minier of North Carolina and their daughter, Hailey Minier; Rob, (and his daughter, Emma) Scott and Steven Hudson; Tracy (Howe) and Michael Foster of Albuquerque, NM and their children, Ryan (Krystal) Foster of Kentucky and Adam Foster of Denver, CO; sister, Dawn Mullen of Phoenix, AZ; niece, Patricia Wawrzyk and nephew, Raymond (Julie) Wawrzyk all of Phoenix, AZ. Ross retired from Schweizer Aircraft Corp. in 2000 with 27 years of dedicated service as a loftman. He was a Veteran of the US Army proudly serving his country while stationed in Alaska. He attended the Wellsburg United Methodist Church. Ross loved working with wood and was an excellent carpenter and craftsman. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY on Friday, January 3, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A Memorial Service honoring his life will follow the visitation at 7 PM. The Reverend Patrick Holder will officiate. The Chemung County Veteran's Honor Squad will accord Military Honors to Mr. Mullen prior to his service at 7 PM. He will be laid to rest in the Rural Home Cemetery Big Flats, NY at a time convenient to his family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Chemung County Humane Society & SPCA 2435 Route 328 Elmira, NY 14903. His guestbook may be signed in obituaries at www.olthof.com
