Ruby L. Woodland

March 9, 1918 — December 9, 2012

Woodland, Ruby L, 94, of Ulster, PA went home to be with her Lord Sunday evening December 9th,2012 at home surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Ruby was born the daughter of the late Dewey J. and Ruth L. (Wilson) Hamilton in Jackson Summit, PA. on March 9th, 1918. She was a member of the graduating class of Millerton High School in 1935. She loved her God, her family, her church and her country. She loved to play the hymns of the church and played for the Jackson Center Church starting at the age of sixteen and continued for many years. She also taught Sunday school classes there. In 1943 she married William H. Barnes and they had many happy years together. In 1964 Bill became pastor of the United Methodist Church in Genesee, PA, where she became the organist and choir director during their time. Ruby was a widow for six years following her husband's death in 1985. In 1991 she married Winfield Woodland and they shared the Golden Years together. In 1992 she also joined the Burlington Church where her husband was a member. She was the organist and choir director for the Burlington Church until October 21, 2012. She was also a lay speaker and took her turn with the other lay speakers of the church, and was very proud to be a member of the Wellsboro Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Surviving Ruby is her loving Husband Winfield Woodland ;Daughter Melanie (Richard Cowan); Son Larry (Diana) Barnes; Daughters Bonnie Williams and Penney (Scott) Geiss; Son, Donald (Kathryn) Woodland and Daughter Judy (Ebert) Phillips. She has nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren. Ruby had many brothers and sisters in law and many nieces and nephews she loved dearly. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Jackson Center United Methodist Church, Friday December 14th, 2012 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Reverend Jennifer Wolf will officiate.
