Russell Gifford

Age 91 of Van Etten, NY, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2004 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. He was born November 17, 1912 in Gifford, New York, the son of the late Adam and Laura (Lezey) Gifford. Russell was preceded in death by his brothers, Harlen and Carl Gifford; sisters, Bertha Fergerson, Myrtle Blessing, Lezey Gifford, and Susan Sutcliff. He is survived by his dear and caring friend, Carmella Van Rensselaer of Pine City, NY; along with several nieces and nephews. In his earlier years, Russell enjoyed working on ?the farm? and then in his later years made quite a name for himself as a boxer. He retired from the New York State Department of Transportation as a truck driver after several years of dedicated service. Family and friends are invited to attend Graveside Services on Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at 11:00 AM in St. Peter & Paul?s Cemetery.Arrangements have been entrusted to the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY.
