Russell E. Williamson

November 16, 1947 — August 7, 2011

Age 63, of Horseheads, NY, passed away very unexpectedly as result of a massive heart attack after riding his motorcycle in one of his favorite motorcycle events for charity. He was blessed into the arms of his Lord instantly as his wife, Jeannie and his brother "Jack" by his side. Russ was the son of the late Eldon and Katherine (Owen) Williamson. He was born in Buffalo, NY on November 16th, 1947 and retired from the Elmira Water Board after many years of loyal service. He is survived by his wife and loyal companion, Jean and his sons; Russell Paul Williamson, Kevin Williamson, Brian Williamson, Chris Williamson, Craig Williamson all of out of state, Daniel Perry and Stephen (Katherine) Williamson all of Elmira; brothers; Robert Williamson of Lowman, NY, John "Jack" (Evie Phenes) Williamson of Horseheads, NY; sisters; Kathleen Williamson of Elmira, Donna (Lester) Wilbur of Troy, PA; special friends; Claire and Jerry Bixby of Lowman, NY, Les (Barbara) Phenesof Elmira Heights along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Along with his canine companions "Midnight and "Missy". In recent years, it was Russ's mission to raise as much money for charity as he could while riding his motorcycle. He was a member of the Board of Directors for Troop Ride, he rode many years on the Pride Ride, the Roger Sterling Ride, the Ride for the Cause cancer ride, along with many, many other fund raising motorcycle rides. He generously offered his time, donations, and driving expertise to any cause he participated in. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY Friday August 12th, 2011 from 1:00PM to 3:00PM and 6:00PM to 8:00PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:00AM with a memorial motorcycle ride to follow in memory to the Rural Home Cemetery, Big Flats, NY. Reverend Robert Wuethrich will officiate.Everyone is welcome to come ride in Russell's memory.Please make memorial donations in Russell's name to the Ronald McDonald House of Syracuse and Rochester or the St. Jude's Children Research Hospital would be a wonderful tribute to Russ's legacy of raising funds for others. Flowers are graciously declined. Envelopes for both charities will be provided at the funeral home. A very special "Thank You" to all whom helped Russ Sunday at the Fair Shake when he became ill.
