She isSurvived by her daughter, NormaJo (Jimmie) Carl of Corning, NY, son John (Sally) DeatsOf Lancaster, NY, grandchildren David James Carl, Jimmie Joe Carl, Jason and Jeffrey Deats,Great grandchildren JoLynn, Benjamin, Alexandria, and Ellie Carl, her sisters Norma Van Etten, Beatrice (Ron) Butcher, and several nieces and nephews. Her husband predeceased herCharles Furman Deats, son Louis Charles Deats, sister-in-law Mary Niver, brother in-law Kenny Van Etten.Ruth worked at Remington Rand until its closing and she retired from Chemung County Nursing Facility. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed bowling and going to garage sales.Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Sunday, August 31, 2008 at3:00 PM at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue Elmira, NY with Rev.Edward Crandall officiating.
