Ruth E. Schoonover

Was born July 24, 1920, the daughter of the late George and Clara (Vanover) Gulvin, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 15, 2005 at St. Joseph?s Hospital at the age of 84. Ruth married Kenneth E. Schoonover and celebrated 49 wonderful years of life and love together prior to his death August 7, 1991. Her brother, Albert Gulvin, also preceded her in death. Her survivors include: beloved son, Ronald Schoonover of Elmira, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Joseph Pike of Warner Robins, GA; much-loved grandchildren, Joseph C. (Julie) Pike; Kenneth T. Pike; great grandson, Ryan Pike; brother-in-laws, Robert (Eleanor) Schoonover of Penn Yan, NY; William T. (Sylvia) Schoonover of California; along with several nieces and nephews. Ruth retired from Iszard?s after several years of dedicated service in the billing department. She enjoyed needlepoint, knitting and was a magnificent homemaker. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post # 06083 in Elmira Heights. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 PM. Funeral Services celebrating Ruth?s life will be held there on Wednesday, January 19 at 1:00 PM. Deacon George Welch will officiate. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in the Woodlawn National Cemetery, where Ruth will be laid to rest with her beloved Kenneth.
